As the lockdown 'bites' the local economy harder, many families in Kitgum are conitnously finding it harder to provide basic necessities for their families.
To ease down the pressure of the locdown, we have distibuted some food items and sanitizing products to all 25 employees of Laker Memorial School.
Each staff member got a package consisting of 50kgs of maize, 2kgs of sugar, a tin of 250g washing powder & 0.5litre of liquid soap.
In addition to the above kind of direct relief distribution, UKEF also tries to provide some safety nets interms of incomes to all employees of our school during the lockdown.
All schools except candidates classes in Uganda contues with the lockdown till further Directives from the President of the Republic of Uganda. However, candidate classes both at primary, secondary and higher institutional levels of education will report back to school on the 4th of June 2020. Due to the lockdown and its impact, parents are not paying school fees, so no income comes into the school.
All salaries are now paid from the reserves of UKEF in The Netherlands. Our work in Uganda is made possible due to the generosity of all of sponsors and the acitivities we organise throughout the year.
Unfortunately, UKEF's fundraising activities for 2020 & 2021 have all been hindered due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Since fundraising activities are not possible, we call upon all our supporters, sponsors and wellwishers to consider an extra donation to foundation. Every bit helps. We hope you will help us continue the work of making the world a better place for some; less fortunate than we are.
Thank you very much for your support.
