On 21 April 2014 we were present at the Africa Day at YAKA Art for Home and Garden in Brunssum. A special event organized by very special people with a love for Africa. The evenment was graced by an African band. It was a great day, lots of interesting people and great weather. For the children there were workshops and entertainment. Below is an impression of the day

This year, the Schools of Vaals choose UKEF as charity for the 2014 King's run. In order to inform the children about our Project in Kitgum we found Nico & Toos Ruiters willing to inform the classes with some nice presentations. This they have done in a great way, the children were so excited. All children have raised money for the charity  run which was held on the Friday before King's day 2014 around the community school in Vaals. As a result, a great amount. Thank you to all the children, teachers and directors of Primary schools in Vaals, De Kleine Wereld, De Robbedoes, Op de Top.

Yesterday marked a year since Uganda_Kitgum_Education_Foundation started it's market fundraising events, incredible to imagine we have been active for just a year. Our second 'Antiek en Kunstmarkt' in Lemiers was another success!!! To our incredible team of volunteers, Pascalle van Wegen, Rene Grassere, Jo Grassere, Mia Grassere and Ed (who woke up at 4am to bake with me), my humble appreciation - thank you so much. Our freshly baked mugati-mandazi were sold out in the middle of the day (next time I try to bake 12 kgs of flour) and most home-made jam were sold out except plums/red-currant jam. Thank you to mother nature for the perfect weather and those who came by to support our work.
