SMC goes Uganda 2019
After this spring students of Sintermeerten have completed their international internship in Kitgum, Uganda, it is now time that other students of Sintermeerten get the chance to visit the school in Kitgum and of course this beautiful African country.
Information evening 11 October 19: 00h in room 016
The plan is to travel to Kitgum in Uganda for three weeks from 28 June to 19 July. Kitgum is a city with about 50,000 inhabitants in the north of Uganda.
The foundation Uganda Kitgum Education Foundation started a school there in 2008. As more and more children in Kitgum want to follow good education, in 2019 the construction of a new school building will start.
And we will help!
We are looking for 25 enthusiastic students who will enter into the adventure with us.
What do we do?
Collecting money for the UKEF Project (Uganda Kitgum Education Foundation) by organizing workshops such as: drumming and making beads, wooden masks and chains and paintings to raise money for this project.
In Uganda we are going to:
- Organize a sports and games day at the schools
-Dying and all kinds of other chores (in and around the school)
-Day education / exchange with schools (primary and high school)
- visit the capital Kampala
- Self-cooking (with support from the cooks of the school)
-Help with the new construction of the primary school
-A visit church service (this is a very special experience)
- Bring food packages to the poorest residents
-On safari in Kidepo National Park
... and many more exciting things
You can of course already send the letter, but after the information evening on 11 October we want your motivation letter to be delivered quickly.
To work! We are looking forward to it!
