Hello and welcome to Uganda Kitgum Education Foundation (UKEF).
With great pleasure, I appreciate your interest in transforming lives and communities around the world specifically those of children and people of Uganda. During 23 years of civil war, the people of Northern Uganda suffered devastation, adductions, deaths, mutilation, displacement and life an encamped situation. Many children and parents in these communities never had the chance to go to school to learn to read and/or write. The civil war led to limited access to education in the region. This is where Uganda Kitgum Education Foundation (UKEF) with the partnership and kind heart of people like you will make a difference.
Since the silence of the gun in 2006, the people of Northern Uganda have enjoyed relative peace and continued to resettle back to their ancestral homes and communities. Latest reports show that the LRA rebels have crossed boarders to neighboring countries of South Sudan (Republic), DR (Congo) and Central African Republic.
However, as Northern Uganda rebuilds and recovers from these decades of civil war, education remains at the centre of the process. UKEF is focusing on improving quality of education through building a primary and secondary school in Kitgum District, Northern Uganda. As you browse our website to learn more, to read some stories, and hopefully be moved into action, I pray that you will consider partnering with us. And together, we can make a difference and bring hope to a world that seems to be overwhelmed with hopelessness by positively impacting the lives of others. In the end, I hope that we may all be enriched for taking a part in this great cause and making a difference.
